Why is Onscreen Text Important? 

Increasingly over the years, viewers are watching video content without sound. More and more, there is an emphasis on the importance on the visual aspects of video as viewers are actively switching the mute button. The first step to address silent film has always been through the use of subtitles or closed captions. Subtitle text includes dialogue and/or description of sound effects, and displays typically at the bottom third of the screen. Subtitles can be turned on and off, or burned into a video to display permanently.
