At Capital Captions, we love working with subtitling and closed captioning children’s TV shows. We are highly experienced especially in providing EBU-TT-D subtitles for Bitesize content on iPlayer. In captioning children’s TV, reading speeds should be lower, colour changes should be used to indicate speaker changes and it’s really important to use vocabulary in descriptions that is age appropriate.
Not only are our rates and turnaround times for captioning children’s shows competitive, we absolutely love working with them too. So in today’s blog, we asked the opinion of a child who consistently watches shows with the subtitles on, to see what he thought of both our company and the use of subtitles as whole. So, here goes…
Subtitles really help me and especially help kids with hearing loss or even those who are deaf. Subtitles may not be for everyone but for me, they make a big difference. I think that overall, not everyone needs subtitles but they should always be there for when you do.

Subtitles have improved my wellbeing because I used to chat to people as well and we would sometimes share our favourite quotes from films. I used to say quotes that weren’t real and I had misheard, and they would tease me but now they don’t because I always look at the subtitles.
I used to watch TV and get words like cat and mat mixed up. Here is an example, ‘I spat out my food,’ can easily become, ‘I pat out my mood.’ Ever since I started watching shows with subtitles, I never misunderstand things anymore.

Recently, I have noticed mistakes, where subtitles might be all in capital letters or have words missing. When reading Amazon Prime subtitles for Everybody Loves Raymond recently, the subtitles weren’t even for the right episode! It can be really frustrating.

I think the best company for subtitles is Capital Captions. They never leave subtitles on too long or too short. Capital Captions will never put the subtitles where they block important events or graphics in whatever TV series or film you happen to be watching. Over ninety nine percent of their work is accurate and if mistakes do occur, they throw in amendments and changes for free. I have discovered that they do transcription and translation as well, and BSL for people who use sign language. You may be thinking, ‘But what if I need foreign subtitles?’ Don’t worry, those are covered for you too.

One of the major upsides of using Capital Captions is they always will get back to you at the right time. You may have gone with a different company and be waiting months for them to get back to you and then when they do, the subtitles are all wrong and they charge you more to fix their own shoddy mistakes. Capital Captions always fix subtitles quickly and free of charge where they can. Their customer service is always top notch too, from start to finish. For more information on their huge range of services, don’t forget to check out the website www.capitalcaptions.com.
