Intelligent Verbatim or Verbatim Transcription?

Verbatim transcription is a transcription style that includes all dialogue in your recording. This means a final transcript will include ‘ums’, ‘ahs’ and the repetition of words. Background laughter, swearing, mumbles, false starts, long pauses and even over-speaking will also be included. 

Verbatim differs from intelligent verbatim transcription in the sense that intelligent verbatim excludes these ‘filler’ words or sounds to provide a more concise account of the dialogue, and an easier read. Note that intelligent verbatim transcription still maintains the tone and all information from the original recording. We recommended intelligent verbatim for  most clients on account of its being far easier to read.  Verbatim transcription is preferred if you are analysing dialogue or using the recording for court proceedings or legal processes.
